My sweet Melissa,
You haven’t asked me for what you truly want because the part of you that was hurt has held you back. I know you’ve been afraid to ask, fearing disappoint. But now that you recognize this, you can see that it doesn’t align with who I am. You are my daughter, and it brings me joy when you ask. Trust me, Melissa. What do you want? Don’t be afraid to ask, because you can trust me. I will never let you down.
Love, God
I used to compare myself to others my age who had husbands, children, and successful careers, and I felt so disappointed with where I was. I was the same age as them but felt like I was falling behind. The disappointed made me afraid to ask for more or expect anything better, because I feared being let down. But through my relationship with God, I learned that He knows what we truly need and when we’re ready for it. We don’t have to be afraid to ask Him for more. Trust that God’s timing is perfect, and even if things don’t happen the way we expect, He won’t disappoint us. What are you holding back from asking God, afraid it won’t happen?
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
